Updates: Google My Business Changes due to COVID-19

There have been updates to the limited Google My Business (GMB) functionality.

New Reviews and Review Replies

Sometime around May 13th, Google started allowing users to leave new reviews for dental practices and has slowly started to show backlogged reviews. The return of the queued reviews has been quiet - email notifications have been taking days to get to the profile managers, if they are coming at all. 

Ratings and Counts

Additionally, the review counts and the aggregate rating updates have lagged. Some industries are seeing their review counts catch up to the changes, while others are still showing counts and ratings that date back to “Pre-COVID” days. 

Q & As

Google Q & A functionality has only returned to restaurants and retail stores. There is no information as to when dentists can expect the functionality to return, but they have said that it will happen slowly and will return by country and category.
