Domain Names (3)
Will I own the domain name of my website?
Yes. You own the rights to your domain name. We don’t. It’s that simple. We can purchase the domain name on your behalf, but the domain name is your property, even in that case, and you are free to transfer it wherever you like. Many clients do have us take care of this for them so they do not need to worry about domain configuration issues or forgetting to renew it (which can lead to disaster).
Can I pick my own domain name?
Certainly! You can use any domain name you’d like. Additionally, we are more than happy to provide free advice and ideas for selecting a new domain name for your dental practice. Having a great domain name can mean the difference between a high resale value in the thousands down the road or the domain being essentially worthless.
I already have a website. How do I transfer it to you?
We handle website migrations all the time. It usually takes less then a week to take your existing website and upgrade it to use our dental website platform. We won’t need any logins or passwords; just point us to your existing website, and we’ll do the rest.
Transferring an existing website to our system is easy, but a few things need to be done in order to ensure that you get the most bang for your buck from Google and don’t lose any traffic.
- We’ll set up “301 redirects” for all your important pages so that potential patients visiting the old links still get to the new ones.
- If we’re changing domains, we’ll inform Google of this change so, again, you don’t lose traffic.
Miscellaneous (1)
Can I hire you to do SEO on my existing website? I don’t want to leave my host/CMS/etc.
Unfortunately, we do not take on websites that are not running on top of our state-of-the-art dental website platform. There are a couple of reasons for this, and they’re all ultimately in your best interests:
- When Google updates its algorithm, we update your website (and everyone else’s). Because all of our customers are on the same software platform, this is a cinch, but to do it for hundreds of different websites would be a repetitive nightmare. And it would be expensive for you.
- Depending on your system, some advanced SEO techniques might be overly laborious or not even possible.
- We can probably migrate your existing site and design into our platform for less money then it would cost us to do the SEO on your website. We do migrations at cost.
Our software was made specifically for dental websites from the ground up. It’s not an off-the-shelf free blogging software re-configured for a dental website or a generic content management system that has been set up to be a dental website. Our software was made to do one thing and one thing only: be an awesome dental website.

My Google Places/Google+ Business listing is wrong or duplicated – help!
This is a pretty routine issue and here is roughly how we solve it:
- Claim listings via address (postcard) or phone (phone call to your office) verification.
- Fix incorrect information.
- If there are duplicates, retire them.
If we can’t gain control of them we have to repeatedly (once a week forever until it’s fixed) request the bad listing be suspended. It’s vital to get this right so you don’t lose those precious reviews.
Additionally, part of our SEO process is submitting/claiming accounts with the major data brokers, from whom Google buys all this local business data. This fixes the problem at the source.
